Our Egham campus is relatively compact, you can walk from one side to the other in 15 minutes.
You can also see plenty of green spaces and woodlands which are managed carefully to encourage and
protect local wildlife, part of the University's Living Campus initiative.

Exhibition Space
The Exhibition Space at Royal Holloway is a gallery space displaying art, research and contemporary
practice from within Royal Holloway and beyond.
The versatile space has hosted a variety of displays ranging from social history, immersive digital
installations and fine art exhibitions, enjoyed by students, staff and members of the local community.
Library ground floor
The ground floor of the Emily Wilding Davison Building library provides a spacious, modern area for
seating and meetings, conveniently located next to the café. It is filled with natural light streaming
through its large windows.
Roof terrace
The roof terrace of the Emily Wilding Davison Building offers an open-air space with seating, perfect
for study breaks.
It provides expansive views of the Egham campus, including Founder's Square and the Founder's
Building, with the west side offering a distant view of London, Heathrow Airport, and Thorpe Park.
Student Services Centre
Our Student Services Centre provides a central point of contact for enquiries and services in a way
that is accessible to all.
The Student Services team are dedicated to responding to queries sensitively, fairly and efficiently;
if they don't have the answer to your query they will work with you and our colleagues across the
University to find the best solution.

Founder's Square
Founder’s Square is an open courtyard at the centre of Royal Holloway's Egham campus, framed by the
Founder’s Building and the Emily Wilding Davison Building.
The square includes paved areas and benches, making it a popular spot for students to gather, relax,
or study outdoors, and it serves as a venue for campus events.
Picture Gallery
The Grade I listed Picture Gallery in the Founder’s Building showcases a collection of Victorian art,
including paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, and watercolours by artists like William Powell
Frith, John Everett Millais, and Edward Burne-Jones, alongside recent additions from Augustus John and
Graham Sutherland. Student, staff and visitors are all able to visit and admire the art.
Chapel
The Chapel is one of the iconic buildings on our Egham campus.
It offers non-denominational services like Choral Evensong, Compline, and Catholic Masses. Its
acoustics complement the tradition of daily sung morning services, a unique practice among UK
universities. The Chapel Choir, known for its quality, performs around 50 concerts annually, supported
by scholarships from Banco Santander.
A Muslim Prayer Room nearby provides prayer and washing facilities.
North Quad
The North Quad of the Founder’s Building features a statue of Queen Victoria, who granted the title
"Royal" to Holloway College. It has lawns, pathways, and seating, creating a welcoming space for
relaxation and socialising.
South Quad
The South Quad is surrounded by the historic Founder’s Building and features statues of Royal
Holloway’s founders, Thomas Holloway and Jane Holloway.
This open space includes lawns, pathways, and seating areas, ideal for relaxing and socialising. It's
also home to the Crosslands bar and eatery.
Founder's Accommodation
Opened by Queen Victoria in 1886, the Founder’s Building offers a range of student rooms, including
large singles, standard singles, and shared rooms, all furnished with essentials and WiFi.
As a catered hall, it provides meals at a discounted rate in the dining hall, alongside facilities
like pantries and a laundry area. The building also houses a dining hall, café, chapel, and picture
gallery.
Founder's - common room
The Founder’s Common Room, with views over Founder’s Square, provides ample seating in a relaxed
atmosphere, making it an ideal place for socialising and unwinding.
George Eliot Accommodation
The George Eliot Halls, located on the northern side of the campus, feature modern self-catered
townhouses with spacious living areas. Each includes a communal kitchen and lounge, with two bathrooms
shared between four bedrooms. Rooms are furnished with a large bed, fitted workstation, and WiFi.
George Eliot - kitchen
George Eliot’s kitchens are a modern, fully equipped communal space, featuring a double sink,
microwave, electric cooker with oven and hob, and two fridge freezers. They include ample work
surfaces, cupboard space for each student, and essential appliances like a kettle and toaster.
The kitchen is cleaned weekly, though students are responsible for maintaining its tidiness.
Gowar & Wedderburn Accommodation
Gowar and Wedderburn Halls, at the southern end of campus, provide modern self-catered accommodation
with en suite bedrooms and shared kitchen/diners. Gowar has 217 rooms, and Wedderburn has 353.
Each room includes a large bed with storage, a fitted workstation, bookcase, desk lamp, desk chair,
and a fitted wardrobe, with en suite facilities including a washbasin, toilet, and shower.
Gowar & Wedderburn - kitchen
Shared kitchens in Gowar and Wedderburn Halls are equipped with essentials, such as a double sink,
microwave, electric cooker with oven and hob, and two fridge freezers. Each student has a designated
cupboard space, and the kitchen includes a kettle, toaster, iron, and ironing board.
Kitchens are cleaned weekly, but students are responsible for their upkeep.
Gym
The Royal Holloway Gym, located in the campus Sports Centre, offers a modern and friendly environment
for fitness.
A Community Membership provides access to the gym and free places in weekly Group Exercise Classes,
such as Studio Cycling, Yoga, and Pilates, along with the ability to reserve external facilities like
the 3G pitch, tennis courts, and a multi-use games area.
Hockey pitch
The hockey pitch at Royal Holloway is a high-quality facility for both training and competitions. It
supports the Royal Holloway Hockey Club, the largest sports club on campus, accommodating all skill
levels with regular matches, training sessions, and social events.
Royal Holloway has a rich history in hockey, dating back to the late 19th century, and continues to
be a key hub for the sport.
Sports hall
The Royal Holloway Sports Hall is a versatile indoor facility featuring real wood flooring and line
markings for multiple sports. It supports various activities including football, basketball, netball,
volleyball, fencing, badminton, table tennis, and mixed martial arts.
Student clubs use the hall for training and BUCS fixtures throughout the academic year.
3G pitch
The state-of-the-art 3G all-weather pitch is suitable for a variety of high-impact team sports
including football, rugby and American football. The pitch is divided at three points so can be hired
as a third, half or the whole of the pitch for training or recreational purposes. The pitch has been
accredited by the Football Association making it perfect for 11-a-side fixtures at all levels.
Boilerhouse Café
The Boilerhouse Café, housed in a historic Victorian building, is popular for its artisan coffee, hot
bakes, freshly made baguettes, cakes, and vegetarian and vegan options. Meals can be enjoyed indoors
or outside in the cobbled courtyard.
The café also promotes sustainability by offering free coffee grounds for composting.
Dining Hall
Founder's Dining Hall, a Grade I listed heritage site, has been serving student meals since 1886. It
offers a unique dining experience with its Victorian décor and high ceilings, providing healthy
options and world cuisine.
Discounts are available for catered and self-catered students using their ID cards.
The Hub
The Hub offers a wide range of dining options, including hot dishes like stir-fries, gourmet burgers,
and vegetarian and vegan meals. It also features Kimiko Japanese Kitchen, which serves Japanese dishes
and fresh sushi, and "Imagine," a quieter area downstairs for enjoying Bubble Tea or ice cream.
The Packhorse
Located on Egham Hill, The Packhorse is run by the Students' Union and offers craft ales, ciders,
premium spirits, and diverse food options at affordable prices. Open to students, staff, and the
public (including dogs), it reinvests profits into student services.
Market
The weekly street food market at the Royal Holloway Students' Union offers a variety of fresh
options, including fruit, vegetables, baked goods, and sweet treats to take home. Enjoy a vibrant
atmosphere with a range of delicious foods.
Union Plaza
The Union Plaza, the outdoor area as you enter the Royal Holloway Students' Union, is an outdoor
space where students can relax, eat, and socialise. It features food vans serving burgers and other
treats, along with ample bench seating.
The permanent canopy provides shelter, creating a versatile area that serves as an entrance to the
Union Building, a dining spot, and an event space.
Insanity Radio Station
Insanity Radio is North Surrey's local not-for-profit station, broadcasting from our Egham campus on
103.2FM, AM, and online. Run by the Royal Holloway Students' Union, it offers a mix of chart hits,
talk shows, news, and specialist music around the clock. It has been recognised with numerous Student
Radio awards.

Meadow
The Meadow is a quiet green space located just beyond Jane Holloway Hall.
The Meadow is part of the campus's 'Bee Walk,' which takes you past a staff-managed beehive. This
semi-natural grassland, bordered by woodland, offers mown paths and informal seating areas with
walking routes to connect with other campus spaces.
Woodland Walk
The Woodland Walk on the Egham campus is a peaceful trail through lush greenery, offering views of
the Founder's Building and campus wildlife, including bees near hives and other hidden creatures.
The walk passes by the Davison Building, complete with a wooden bridge over a pond, providing a
natural escape right on campus.
